About
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Revealed is a website dedicated to pressing for the UN’s SDGs. The website does this by explaining problems and potential solutions as determined by researchers as well as members of the general public. The website aims to explain in simple terms these solutions for both adults and children.
Below is my (Ramu Narayanan) brief bio:
I have a BASc (2006) in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo (Canada) and a MSc (2011) in Earth and Space Science from York University (Canada).
My MSc thesis focused on an area combining environmental remote sensing and artificial intelligence (specifically the use of environmental remote sensing data to perform a classification of mixed seabed objects). While I was an MSc student I published one journal article (in the Journal of Applied Remote Sensing) as well as 1 conference publication.
I am currently engaged in promoting sustainability methods in school settings.

I have served as a member of the York Region Circular Economy Working Group. The Circular Economy approach is devoted to eliminating waste and pollution, as well as making maximum use of all resources. You can find more information about the working group and Circular Economy methods by clicking here: https://www.york.ca/newsroom/campaigns-projects/circular-economy
I have also been involved in an environmental movement called Blue Dot (bluedot.ca), described below:
“The Blue Dot movement is a national grassroots campaign based on the idea that everyone in Canada deserves the right to a healthy environment, including clean air and water, and a say in decisions that affect our health and well-being.”
To me, the right to a healthy environment is important because it helps avoid human sickness. This prevents a decline in quality of life as well as increased health care costs.
As a member of the York Region, Ontario, Canada Blue Dot chapter, I focused on writing articles for my local newspaper in order to raise awareness of environmental issues. I cover issues that are global in scope but relevant to local and national jurisdictions. The extended versions of these articles are available on this website.
My work with Blue Dot has also included participating in petition drives (to advocate for the right to a healthy environment) and local community projects (to improve environmental outcomes and awareness).
In addition to the above, I have experience as a software developer and also as a software quality assurance engineer.
As a software developer I have developed statistical process control software for a major Canadian car parts manufacturer. I have also developed health information software for major Canadian health insurance companies.
My work in software quality control includes establishing manual and automated software quality control processes.
